Kamenashi Kazuya, who is about to air in a drama in which he plays the lead role, appears in the opening interview!
He is very passionate about his role in the drama, suggesting that he will wear his hair blonde for the first time in his life. He also talks about his new collaboration with director Hideo Nakata, a close friend.
We caught up with him about his thoughts on the drama.
"Shoutai" will be Kazuya Kamenashi's first starring role in a WOWOW production.
Kamenashi plays Kaburagi Keiichi, a death-row inmate who escapes from prison after being arrested for the murder of a married couple. He escapes by changing his appearance and name, and while moving from place to place, he saves the lives of those he meets.
"Kaburagi is a person who likes people and wants to be with them. Kaburagi is not a skilled con artist, so he does not disguise himself in various ways. I added changes in the use of voice as the essence of the character, but I was careful not to be too skillful in my gestures and facial expressions."
He says that he and the director and staff discussed every nuance of the character, including his looks, as they developed the character. Dyeing his hair blonde was Kamenashi's idea.
"The director suggested using special makeup to create a single-layered eyelid as a way to change the appearance of the face. In the section with Sayaka, played by Shiori Kanjiya, she falls in love with him at first sight and says, ’Won't you come to my house?’, so I thought I had to create a convincing visual that would make her fall in love with me and say that. The second costume fitting was a complete change, and I was actually allowed to dye my hair instead of wearing a blonde wig. I spent about five hours dyeing my hair blonde. It was the first time in my life that I had dyed my hair that much, so it was a new experience for me."
There are a number of occupations in the drama, such as web writer and staff at a nursing home, but what jobs can each member of KAT TUN do to successfully hide their "shoutai" (t/n: identity)..........?
"Ueda-kun would be exposed wherever he'd sneak into, wouldn't he? He might be okay in a workplace where he works with a towel wrapped around his head. Nakamaru-kun is a good choice for a desk job such as a graphic designer. I'm the staff member who puts water on the sauna's hot stones. I can enter the sauna and therefore kill two birds with one stone (laughs).
